Protesting
polytechnic and Colleges of education lecturers have been dispersed
with teargas and hot water by men of the Nigeria Police when they
attempted to make their way to the National Assembly.
The lecturers had earlier been addressed by Minister of Labour and
Productivity, Emeka Wogu, when they staged a brief sit-in before the
entrance to his ministry's side of the Federal Secretariat.

A joint
protest of striking Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) and
Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) together with their
students is underway in the parking lot of the Federal Secretariat,
Abuja.
The
polytechnic and colleges of educations lecturers have been on strike for
months pressing home their demand for better teaching and learning
environment.
The
protesters carry placards reading "FG meet COEASU and ASUP demands",
"Government systematically Killing Teacher-Education" among others.
