Kerosene Tanker Burst into Flames in Lagos

A tanker laden with 33,000 litres of kerosene on Thursday caught fire, causing pandemonium in Lekki Phase 1, a highbrow estate in Lagos.

According to fire fighters, although there was no casualty, the accident caused a traffic snarl for several hours.

The Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Razaq Fadipe, said the incident happened along Admiralty Way, a major road connecting the new Ikoyi cable bridge to Lekki.
He said the fire had been put out while the vehicle had been towed.

He added that apart from the Lekki fire, a factory also caught fire in Isolo area of the state.

“There were two fire  incidents this morning. A tanker fully loaded with kerosene caught fire at Admiralty way lekki. A Lagos State Government small scale industry at Isolo also caught fire. No casualties recorded,” he said.
