HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT MY GOD-GIVEN TALENTS ARE?

We discover our God-given talents through trial and error. If you fail in one area, keep searching until you find something that you can master. It is true that not everyone is a gifted singer or a skilled public speaker. However, practice and persistence have an amazing ability to discover new talents .and serve the Lord in a manner, which is edifying.

Everyone has some type of gift. The most successful people in life are the ones who play with the hand that God has dealt them. Consider a car parked hard up against a curb of while it is in motion? Now apply this to yourself with respect to discerning God’s will for your life. Is it easer to sense the Lord’s leading and direction when we sit by and do nothing? When I refer to doing nothing, are you busy in some way serving the Lord? For example, do you know the names of your neighbors? Have you offered to help one of your neighbors with something? In showing kindness and meeting a need for a stranger or neighbor, I have had the best opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“for the kingdom of heaven is an man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the fire talents went and traded with the same, and
made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two” (Matthew 25:14-17).

Going back to our example of a car jammed tight up against a curb. Is it easier to steer a car when it is parked tightly up against the curb or while it is in motion? The same is true when serving our Lord Jesus Christ. You want to discover what your God given talents are and how you should use them for the Lord? Then get busy serving the Lord in some capacity. In doing so, you will find out where your true talents lie and ultimately where you can best serve the lord. Keep in mind, a day is coming when we will all stand before our almighty God and he will want to know how you have served him with, the talents, time, money and resources entrusted to you. Be a good steward for our Lord Jesus Christ and ask him how you can serve him.

Here are simple steps that will help you out in life

  • Know that you have a special ability and look out for it
  • Your talent is usually something you enjoy doing
  • Acquire the necessary skills needed
  • Be passionate about your talent
  • Don’t see your age as a barrier
  • Don’t entertain excuses
