Back To The Big Screen: Lupita Nyong’o Set To Star In “The Jungle Book” Remake

When I think about Lupita Nyong’o’s success I always think about Alfre Woodard’s words of warning. Basically, she said when we’ll know Hollywood has changed and is ready to embrace a Lupita Nyong’o when we see the types of roles she’s offered after the buzz surrounding her name dies down.
Although the buzz hasn’t quite died down just yet, it looks like Nyong’o has something in the works. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lupita and Scarlett Johansson are negotiating to star in the live action/CG remake of Disney’s The Jungle Book.

Nyong’o and Johansson will join Idris Elba, who will play the movie’s villain Shere Khan, a man-eating tiger. Johansson will play the second, lesser antagonist Kaa, a python who hypnotizes his prey before he eats them.
If she signs on, Nyong’o’s role with be Rakcha, the mother wolf who adopts the film’s main character Mowgli, which has yet to be cast.
The movie is set to be released on October 9, 2015.
Were you a fan of the animated version of The Jungle Book back in the day? Are you excited to see Lupita [potentially] in this role?
